i2 – The innovation institute

Innovation Institute:  Curiosity, Principled, Driven, and Reflective

Students in the i2 program pursue advanced educational coursework which is aligned with a comprehensive, rigorous curriculum. Both 9th and 10th grade students learn how to critically and reflectively think by participating in our Philosophy of Learning extension activities. In addition, students actively participate in service community-related opportunities. Students who engage in service-learning opportunities develop a creatively-designed journal detailing their experience to be open-minded and knowledgeable thinkers. Student enrichment activities offered to program participants lead to the development of a driven, academically-prepared student.  While many of our i2 courses are designed to provide preparation for students transitioning to the International Baccalaureate Diploma or Career-related Programme, participants are also well-prepared for Advanced Placement, Dual Enrollment, and Honors coursework opportunities during their junior and senior years of high school.

Freshmen participate in Honors World History, Honors Biology, and Honors World Literature. Sophomore students participate in AP Language and Composition, Honors Chemistry, and Honors Government and Economics. During the tenth grade, students focus on academic preparation for future secondary academic endeavors. Our two-year program requires a Foreign Language component in which students participate in language acquisition courses for two years at the high school level or up to the third level of their chosen language.

It is strongly recommended that students who want to participate in our i2 program have received Carnegie credit for Physical Science and Ninth Grade Literature.
